“The body of the northern bluefin tuna is cigar-shaped and robust. The head is conical and the mouth rather large. Northern bluefin tuna can live for 30 years. Due to overfishing of this species, few known specimens grow to a mature age and typical specimens average 1 m (3.3 ft) long and around 350 kg (770 lb) in weight. The largest recorded specimen was caught off Nova Scotia and recorded at 680 kg (1,496 lb). The species can reach a maximum length of about 4.3 m (14 ft).” (via wikipedia)
My boss, who cares more about fish than anyone I’ve ever known, has created a website to bring together people who are concerned about the bluefin tuna. It is a critical time right now to take action to change fishing regulations so that this awesome animal won’t disappear from the face of the earth. Join here.

The domestic policy team will be there, too, including Jason Furman (Harvard, Harvard Ph.D.), Austan Goolsbee (Yale, M.I.T. Ph.D.), Blair Levin (Yale, Yale Law), Peter Orszag (Princeton, London School of Economics Ph.D.) and, of course, the White House Counsel Greg Craig (Harvard, Yale Law).
This truly will be an administration that looks like America, or at least that slice of America that got double 800s on their SATs. Even more than past administrations, this will be a valedictocracy — rule by those who graduate first in their high school classes. If a foreign enemy attacks the United States during the Harvard-Yale game any time over the next four years, we’re screwed.
Get out the vote

Betty Grable and 10 million more.
Google announced today that they have reached an agreement with LIFE Magazine to publish 10 million photographs from the archives (the first 2 million are up). According to the press, 97 percent of these photographs heve never been seen before. This is great news, and there are some fabulous pictures in this collection. However, it does seem clear why many of these shots were never printed. And, to my (admittedly under-trained eye), much of the scanning seems automated and/or a little clumsy. Nevertheless, it is pretty interesting. Here is the link: http://images.google.com/hosted/life
this is awesome!
