My lucky day
As you know I have spent the last month at the races at Saratoga Racecourse and spent much time over the past several months going on and on about the super filly, Rachel Alexandra. I flew to Chicago today and sitting next to me on the plane was the one and only Steve Asmussen, trainer of Rachel and the leader trainer in the country by a lot. Needless to say I had a few questions for him. He was very nice and very open. He loves Rachel’s chances on Saturday with his biggest concern being the likelihood of a very fast early pace in the race. I will comment more on that closer to race day. He has 350 horses in training at 7 racetracks. He buys and sells at all levels of auctions, in the claiming ranks and private sales. Only thing better would have been Obama sitting next to me.
