Team Work
I am not an athlete but recently my friend Will made a very intriguing sports analogy that made a lot of sense to me.
Will just started a new job at an ad agency. He was told that this would be a great job for him if he liked teamwork, which he does. After only a few weeks at his new job he came to the realization that there are two distinct types of teamwork: a relay race and a basketball game. In the first type, the team runs a race, each person, plays their part, runs as fast as they can and then hands off to baton to the next team member. This continues one person at a time until the race is over. In basketball, the team passes the ball from person to person, running synchronized plays - five people, all moving at once in one direction toward one goal.
Will’s job is a relay race. So is mine. I want to play basketball.
