I’m really into NY1. Since I moved to New York last August I’ve been making it a part of my morning routine. Since the majority of my life has been spent in either upstate New York or Baltimore, the local news channels have always left a lot to be desired. NY1 has some great morning segments, including my favorite - “In the Papers” where the morning anchor Pat Keirnan (who I may or may not be in love with) goes through that mornings papers to point out intersting stories and articles or the differences in the coverage.

Aside from the content being excellent, the production quailty is very good (much better than most local news channels) but infinitely more simple and easier to watch than other morning news shows. There is no news ticker, no swiveling camera shots and no intense distracting graphics. I really like their logo and they are channel number one which is also cool.
All this said, they are also owned by media conglomerate Time Warner so I guess it isn’t all perfume and roses.
